From 5th-7th grade, I went to a school in a state where corporal punishment was still legal, & let me tell you... The children were SO much more behaved!! There was about an equal ratio of races at this school I attended in MS, so it had nothing to do with white/black/Hispanic/Asian or whatever.. My middle school of 6th-8th grade was 1400 kids & I cant recall a single fight! What I can recall, is over my 2 years in that school, seeing 3 people pulled from class, into the hall, asked to bend over with their hands on their knees, & they promptly received 3 swats to the ass with the board of education! Said student would then return to class. I never seen a repeat student called to the hallway. & the classroom they were pulled from always had the door left open to be sure everyone heard what was happening. What reform do they actually expect from students with detention or suspension?! Our country really needs to get our heads out of our asses & actually punish our children instead of coddling them! I know this will offend some people, but seriously, how do you expect our future to turn out when you hand everything to your children?! My sister & I grew up with spankings & didnt get much beyond what we earned with the exception of holidays. Oh, you want something? How about do some chores, or keep up your grades?! & to this day, neither one of us expects ANYTHING handed to us. I cant speak for her, but I am the MOST stubborn person. Even when I absolutely need help, I usually cant bring myself to ask for it. I have sooo much more on this subject, but I could go on forever lol
