From A friend..(.pictures are not from Nigeria) Good day. Currently,in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, there is palpable fear. There is a mass exodus of people from the town. Transportation is horrible,as all the motor-parks are filled up. Usually, you stroll to the park, buy a ticket and enter the bus immediately. Since friday, people are even booking ahead for buses they have not yet seen. The banks are full as people are withdrawing money in droves. More scary is that there is little or no security presence in town. Yesterday, I went to drop a colleague at the airport and there was no single security man at the gates. There is deep suspicion among the inhabitants of strangers. The government keeps seeing this issue as a northern problem. What makes them think these brutes would be content with just capturing the NE? Every success is a confidence boost for them. In church yesterday,we heard gory tales from survivors, some who had to trek on foot for over eleven hours,on empty stomachs before climbing trucks and lorries to get to Yola, that is besides the fact that a lot of people were afraid to go to church yesterday.. Sadly, our politicians are only concerned about the 2015 polls. The military checkpoints in Yola have disappeared, thus exposing the town to danger ==================================== Could democracy itself be the target of these problems?...i am getting sick of the whole thing...pictures are not from Nigeria
