From AAPD Public information office ROBBERY EASTERN DISTRICT On October 1, 2013, at approximately 12:48 a.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to the 300 block of Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie for a reported robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 23-year-old male victim, who stated that he was walking in the area of Elvaton Road and Tall Pines Court when he was approached by three male suspects wearing masks. One of the suspects punched him in the face and then stole his wallet and a pack of cigarettes. The suspects fled in an unknown direction. The victim then walked to a nearby gas station and called police. The victim sustained a minor injury and was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment. Numerous officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. Suspects: Three black males, all between 5’8”-6’0” with medium builds. One suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt NORTHERN DISTRICT TAMPERING WITH AUTO ARREST GLEN BURNIE On September 30, 2013, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers from Northern District responded to a report of a subject trying to open the doors of a vehicle while it was parked in the 7100 bloc of Williams Grove in Glen Burnie. The resident advised that she woke to the sound of someone pulling door handles and saw the suspect trying to open her car doors. The resident yelled out the window and the suspect ran off going northbound to a dead end of Williams Grove which leads to a footpath in a common area. Officers began a canvass of the area and located a subject matching the description on Hopkins Corner near Chase Walk. The suspect, Stephen Weaver, 23, of 7858 Flintshire Court in Glen Burnie, was positively identified by the victim as the person tampering with the vehicle. The suspect was charged with Rogue & Vagabond and Willful Motor Vehicle Tampering. NORTHERN DISTRICT DETECTIVE UNIT SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO CLOSURE IN MULTIPLE CITIZEN ROBBERIES FOLLOW-UP: SEARCH WARRANT: ARREST GLEN BURNIE ROBBERY CASES: On September 27, 2013, Northern District Detectives with the assistance of the Special Operations Section Quick Response Team executed a search and seizure warrant at 5 Warfield Road in Glen Burnie. The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into multiple citizen armed robbery incidents that have occurred over the past few weeks in Northern District. As a result, detectives located and seized two handguns, a 2008 Honda Accord used in the commission of the robberies, suspected marijuana packaged for distribution and other items of evidentiary value related to the aforementioned robberies. The following suspects were arrested and charged for the following criminal offenses: Suspect #1: Deandre Spears, 18, of 5 Warfield Road, Glen Burnie. The suspect was charged with two counts of Armed Robbery (felony), Robbery (felony), First (felony) and Second Degree Assault, Handgun on Person and two counts of Handgun Use in the Commission of a Felony Suspect #2: Tavon Jesse McCray, 22, of 5 Warfield Road, Glen Burnie. The suspect was charged with Marijuana With Intent to Distribute (felony), Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia PRIOR CASES NORTHERN DISTRICT ARMED ROBBERY GLEN BURNIE On September 5, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., officers from Northern District responded to a residence on Charles Avenue in Glen Burnie for a reported armed robbery that occurred earlier in the area of Heathwood Road and Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 14-year-old male victim, who advised that at approximately 2:30 p.m. he was walking on Heathwood Road when he noticed a black vehicle circling the area. While still on Heathwood Road, the suspect (#1) approached him on foot and asked the victim a question. The suspect (#1) produced a handgun and demanded that the victim to give him his iPhone. The victim gave the phone to the suspect (#1) and began to walk away when he observed the suspect (#1) get into the passenger side of a black vehicle, possibly a Nissan Altima, which was parked on Heathwood Road. The suspect vehicle which was being driven by another suspect (#2) was last seen turning onto Furnace Branch Road. The victim returned to his residence where he notified police who then responded to his home. The victim was not injured during the armed robbery. Officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. Northern District detectives responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY GLEN BURNIE NORTHERN DISTRICT On September 13, 2013, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers from Northern District responded to the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park for an attempted armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 53-year-old male victim, who indicated that he observed a black two door Honda Accord occupied by two male subjects drive past him in a very slow manner. The vehicle then circled around the block and drove by him a second time. The passenger then exited the vehicle, started walking towards the victim and pointed a handgun at the victim while threatening to shoot him. The victim then reported that he fled on foot and the suspect started to chase him, but stopped when he got close to a 7-Eleven store. The suspect subsequently ran back to the black Honda and the vehicle fled westward on 1st Avenue towards Belle Grove Road. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.
