From Adunola Otunbafemi Oon : Mother Tries To Bury 1-Day-Old Baby Alive In Akwa Ibom Police in Akwa Ibom State have reportedly saved a day-old baby boy, whose mother was attempting to bury him alive. The woman arrested in connection with the crime allegedly tried to bury the child in a shallow grave in Afaha Abia Village of Nsit Ibom LGA, Leadership reports. According to reports, the state Police Commissioner Gabriel Achong made this known yesterday, September 25, while briefing journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital. “Patience on Sept. 14, 2014 did bury her one-day-old baby boy in a shallow grave. The baby was rescued alive.” Speaking about the work of the command in the last 2 months, Achong reportedly said that 37 suspects were arrested over various offences and 4 stolen children were rescued and reunited with their families. This is not the first time such crimes involving burying people alive are happening in Nigeria. It would be recalled that earlier this month a 65-year-herbalist buried alive a woman and her 10-year-old daughter in Ogun State. The suspect did not provide any reason for his actions, but attributed the act to the evil spirits saying: “It’s the devil. I didn’t do it with my normal mind.
