From Alfonso Banda, Head of Department Natural Resources in state of Tamaulipas, Mexico: Monarch butterflies have been flying to the south over Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, during several days. They were first seen on November 9th with the most activity registered on November 11th, day on wich monarchs were flying on a flight path of 3.5 miles wide. That same day a cold front impeded the butterflies to fly during two days. On november 14th with better climatological conditions, the migration restarted, with monarchs flying high and low to the south. And from november 15th to 21th we have been registering an intense migration activity every day. We have seen butterflies feeding on native flora as Siam weed (Chromolaena odorata), Texas barometer bush (Leucophyllum frutescens) and Hoja ancha (Flourensia laurifolia).
