From Arne Witt The video (link below) was just broadcast on national TV in Indonesia – it tells the story of how the endangered Banteng is threatened by the invasive Acacia nilotica in Baluran National Park and goes on to show how a host of invasive plants are threatening coffee production on a neighbouring farm. Development of best management practices for Acacia nilotica is being undertaken as part of a much larger UNEP-GEF Project “Removing Barriers to Invasive Species Management in Protection and Production Forests in SE Asia” (Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia) in which CABI is the Executing Agency. In Indonesia the National Executing Agency is the Forest Research and Development Agency (FORDA) of the Ministry of Forestry – Titiek Setyawati, who features in the video, is the National Project Coordinator.
