From #BdMOC coach Mahbub Majumder: Bangladesh IMO 2014 results: 1) BD gets 38 out of 42 on Problem 1 -- an Algebra problem ! 2) BD gets 36 out of 42 on Problem 4 -- a Geometry Problem. 3) Bangladesh gets 1 Silver (Mahi) and 1 Bronze (Adib). Two students have 14. Ordinarily these two students would have gotten bronze medals. 4) No students got a low score. 5) All students received some prize. 6) This exam was a terrible exam for students from developing countries because there were 3 combinatorics problems. However, BD students survived. 7) The team score is 84. This is the highest ever BD team score. 8) The next goal is to get 100 points. Getting a gold medal is not a reasonable target. However, getting 100 points is a very challenging but reasonable target. It would represent consistency and an increase of the general mathematical ability of BD students. The main conclusion of the team is that the overall level of BD students has improved greatly. Getting almost full marks on Problem 1 and Problem 4 is the real achievement and tells us that the average level of Bangladesh students has gone up a huge amount.
