From Being Barnabas: Character in Leadership. Great lesson for people are are in Christian Ministries; However, fallen humans usually gravitate to that which appeals to the flesh. Temptations toward pride, fame, and power are always too close to the surface to be safely ignored. The sins of the human ego also frequently have a secondary pitfall that, if we do not stumble at first, will get us in the end. Most servants of Christ labor in obscurity and with modest results for the bulk of their lives. To the degree we begin with grandiose personal aspirations we become vulnerable to the snare of false failure and subsequent discouragement. We want to be great and we define greatness by our North American standards of money, fame, and influence. -Mike Edsall
