From Bob Myers - Legislative Coordinator Bob is not a facebooker but if you have issues you think we should consider let me know and I will pass them on. 2014 Legislative Agendas both State and Federal I am looking at setting the Legislative Agenda for next year. Right now I am working on getting the “blue dot tail lights” legalized. Certain antique models came out with them as OEM so they are legal but on other models they are illegal and since police don’t normally bother those that have them on newer models until they want a “probable cause” to pull you over so let’s get rid of another “probable cause”. Other probable causes we got rid of were handle bars to shoulder height and tail lights that blink before going to steady red when the brakes are applied. Legalizing “accent lighting” while running. We all know the more lights the better off we are. ETHANOL! Not to just oppose any increase in its percentages but to STOP Ethanol increases in this state and nation. We need to call all of our Federal Legislators and inform them of our support of Congressional Bill H.R. 875 which calls for comprehensive, independent testing of E-15 and ask them to please sign on as a co-sponsor. ABATE is tired of sitting across the table from our friends on this issue and we want this issue settled once and for all. The only testing the Department of Energy did on this fuel was on “emission controls” and “catalytic converters”. NO motors were tested for premature failure or early wear out. Opposition to increasing Ethanol %’s in our gasoline is becoming more and more popular with our federal legislators as there are a number of bills speaking out against ethanol. Ethanol is increasing the price of gas and food. It costs more to produce ethanol fuel than it does straight gasoline as there are extra steps involved The state of Florida passed their HB4001 which repeals their mandate on ethanol blended gasoline and their Governor signed the bill which became law this first week of June 2013. I will be working on our resolution for the Illinois House and Senate to support H.R. 875 and if passed copies will be sent to the US House and Senate and President Obama In Illinois if someone runs you off the road your insurance is the one that pays out, not the one who runs you off the road. This needs to change and it was brought to my attention by Senator Gary Forby, one of our greatest heroes. If you have any ideas for either the State or Federal Legislative Agenda please feel free to offer them to me.
