Utley beat Virginias Tyler Askey 5-3 in the final at 184 pounds while Ramos bested VTs Chad Strube 9-7 to grab the win at 165. In addition to Utley and Ramos, Tar Heels Joey Ward and John Michael Staudenmayer posted second-place finishes at 141 pounds and 174 pounds, respectively. Christian Barber (fourth at 149), Joey Moon (fifth, 149), Jacob Crawford (sixth, 157), and Frank Abbondanza (sixth, 197) were also placers for UNC. Evan Henderson, who is redshirting in 2014-15, was also in action on Sunday at the Bill Farrell International Open in Hempstead, N.Y. The two-time All-America performer at 141 pounds earned a silver medal in the 65 kg (143 pound) event after winning three bouts, including a 10-5 semifinal victory over Murad Nukhkadiev of Russia.
