From: Boomers Against Elder Abuse RE: New Mexico beware and be aware this is the national pattern of operation including doctor shopping to get the evaluation needed in the rush to establish a guardianship/conservatorship: How would you like to have your constitutional rights removed and your life and assets turned over to a CORPORATION for management? Your house can be sold to pay these people to protect you. If a member of a wealthy family in conflict walks into the office of the wrong attorney that attorney can petition the court for appointment of a guardian and conservator over an elder. Sometime, you wont even be allowed to attend your own hearing. Once you are deemed incapacitated, its a Free for-all! Everyone in the court system will be making a bundle off your loved ones estate once the elders rights are removed. In our state, New Mexico, the petitioning attorneys, often the same ones who petition in many cases, choose the guardian, the conservator, the court visitor AND the psychologist who does the testing. Is this an inside job, or what??? The conflict of interest in the courtroom is appalling. The people involved in the court procedure wont admit that they all know each other work together on case after case, but one look at the court dockets, or if you talk to the families of victims, ( 10 or so families have come forward to me) it is clear that they do!.
