From Cassie: My daughter is five and has a severe nut allergy and is also allergic to tartrazine which is also known as yellow #5 or orange food coloring. So you can just imagine my issues with Halloween. I live in a very rural area, so Ive been fortunate to only go to handful a of houses where we know something is set aside for my daughter that she can have. She is beyond her years and understands the severity of the nut allergy. So last year she opted for a Halloween party at home. I was thrilled but this year there is just too much going on for me to pull that off. My community is having Halloween in the park this year. This is where people park their cars in designated areas throughout the park and the kids go fr car to car trick or treating. My issues are this. 1. I have no control over what people have in their cars for treats 2 I have no way of stopping other kids fr opening a treat with nuts in it around my daughter and then playing with or touching her. I have some wonderful people in my life that have offered to have things in their cars for her, but yet again I cant keep her fr being exposed if other kids have things. I would like opinions on what people think I should do Im thinking of not participating and just taking my daughter to her grandparents houses Im not worried about her eating something without my knowledge because shes very good about asking. Im just worried about other people. Thanks Cassie
