From Coach Brett Shanklin - Hopefully, you all have been enjoying your summer. Thought I would let you all know about the awesome accomplishments and achievements some of the kids from Frontier received tonight. Tonight was the Greeley Tribune Best Preps Award Banquet at the UNC Ballroom. The city and the Tribune went out of their way to make the night very special for the nominated high school athletes. The awards night recognized the best athlete in each of the 20 sports offered at area high schools. There was a total of 18 high schools in Greeley and the surrounding area that were represented by very talented athletes. Needless to say Frontier Academy cleaned house: Winning Athlete of the Year in their respective sport: Girls Cross Country: Makayla Santos Boys Cross Country: Chris Baker Boys Soccer: Colin Kerr Boys Tennis: Andrew Struzenberg via Greeley Central Girls Swimming: Morgan King via Greeley West Boys Swimming: Brody Lewis via Greeley West Girls Soccer: Hannah Braun Girls Tennis: Paige Crews via Greeley West Overall Boys Athlete of the Year: Austin Baumeister (Participated in Soccer, Basketball, Track) Other Nominees from our School: Cheer: Victoria Whitmore Volleyball: Bri Lambert Wrestling: Benito Gutierrez via University Girls Basketball: Krista Thaxton Boys Basketball: Austin Baumeister Boys Track: Chris Baker Girls Track: Makayla Santos Attached is a picture of all our wonderful athletes after the Banquet. Pretty impressive for one school to have athletes win 8 out of the 20 sports for athlete of the year and have the overall Boys Athlete of the Year. Hats off to all the great coaches who have positively impacted so many of these kids lives and made a huge difference. Most importantly congrats to our amazing student athletes who make Frontier proud. What a honor to share a table with so many great athletes tonight.
