From: Commanding Officer, NAS Sigonella As part of our ongoing - TopicsExpress

From: Commanding Officer, NAS Sigonella As part of our ongoing assessment of Force Protection, effective immediately there is new guidance to the current safety protocols that were put in place last Friday. Though there is no current identified threat to DoD interests or personnel in our community, we remain in a heightened security posture that requires all U.S. members in Sigonella to exercise extra vigilance. Thus, I have decided on the following: -- For travel abroad, all Sigonella community members shall refer to the State Departments Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts page as well as the Department of Defenses Foreign Clearance Guide. The State Department site is at: travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings.html The DOD site is at: https://fcg.pentagon.mil/fcg.cfm -- ITT/MWR tours are still allowed. MWR staff will inform members if there is a change in this allowance, but both civilians and uniformed members are encouraged to take advantage of ITT trips with an increased emphasis on vigilance during travel. Further information regarding the status of trips can be found on sigmwr and the Sigonella MWR Facebook page. -- Independent travel to highly-populated tourist sites and large-crowd events (Motta Renaissance Festival, Etna Land, etc.) is likewise authorized, but with the same emphasis on vigilance. -- Please call the following numbers to report any suspicious activity: NCIS at 624-9210 (DSN) or 095-86-9210 (Commercial), or Security at 624-5225 (DSN) or 095-86-5225 (Commercial). For emergencies, call the Installation Dispatch Center at 624-1911 (DSN) or 095-86-1911 (Commercial). In closing, Id like to add that while we continue to assess and implement necessary vs. unnecessary Force Protection measures here, please be assured that the safety, health, and welfare of the Sigonella family is at the very forefront of my priorities. HCC, CJ Dennis Commanding Officer, NAS Sigonella
