From David A. Goldstein, Ph.D. Vedic Astrology Outlook: December 2014 In general, December 2014 appears to be a fairly neutral month, with few “dramatic” astrological shifts. MARS COMPLEX CONDITION in DECEMBER Mars continues to transit through its exaltation sign of Capricorn until 1-4-2015. This is a strong position for Mars, especially since Mars also receives the strong beneficial aspect of exalted Jupiter during the entire month. However, the complicated issue is that Mars is also receiving the harmful aspects of Saturn and Rahu, concurrently. This complex Mars situation creates a mixture of effects. On the one hand, this increases desire, ambition to succeed, be productive and compete. On the other hand, the influence of Saturn on Mars, creates frustration, delays, fear, hesitation and a slow down or reduction in productivity. Rahu’s influence gives Mars an overwhelming desire to act quickly, without thinking, and creates a sense of urgency with compulsive tendencies. So, Saturn’s influence on Mars to slow down, may actually improve outcomes to some degree, under certain circumstances. The aspect of Jupiter on Mars and vice versa, creates “GURU MANGALA” yoga. This yoga is beneficial for finance, gains, and promotes abundance and ambition. This yoga may promote expansion or financial market gains this month. However, keep in mind that Saturn may curtail this expansive tendency by its aspect to Mars, to some degree. The aspect of Saturn to Mars is exact by degree on 12/1. Then Mars separates from Saturn’s aspect as the month progresses. Thus, Saturn’s influence on Mars decreases over time and Mars will strengthen. Yet another yoga is formed this month, PARIVARTANA yoga, between Mars and Saturn, since each planet is transiting the house owned by the other planet. This is a relatively positive Parivartana yoga, thus strengthening both Saturn and Mars function this month. This bodes well for technical or mechanical pursuits. All of these influences are impacting Mars this month. You may feel like starting a new project, new career, or take a new life direction, but practical considerations may prevent you from getting this off the ground immediately. You may jump anyway, take a risk and then encounter some delay or find the process to getting started, slow going.
