(Dec. 23, 2014) --- Delaware State University’s Amere May (sr., So. Haven, Mich.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his play last week. May was named MEAC Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season after scoring 64 points in two games for the Hornets. His week was highlighted by a career-best 48-point performance in DSU’s 72-64 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 17. It was the second-best single game total in school history and the top scoring contest among all NCAA Div. I players this season. May tied his career high with six three-point field goals in the contest. He also scored 16 points in the Hornets’ loss to Oregon on Dec. 20. The Hornet guard is tops in the MEAC and 30th in Div. I in scoring at 19.1 points per game this season. He also leads the MEAC in free throw percentage (.895), is second in the league in three-point field goals per game (2.4); and 11th in total threes (22). The MEAC also honored May as its player-of-the-week on Dec. 1. The Delaware State men’s basketball team (5-7) returns to action this Sunday (Dec. 28) at Temple (8-4).
