From Dogtown---Trip to see Dr. P today. He didnt seem too worried that this was anything other than gastroenteritis, but I found out from my neighbor that his mini schnauzer has had the same thing last week. Heidi is only about a year old and healthy, so is already over it, but there has to be something in common, since the symptoms were exactly the same. Neighbor said she was whining with her tummy hurting. I am leaning toward the bird droppings around the street trees, where they both walk, and they both lick feet a lot. Cass will now have his little paws wiped after his walks, once he feels up to them. Dr. P wanted to start him on a probiotic for a month to get his gut back to normal, and said hed rather not go to the anti-nausea meds if he can help it. But well have to see if hell eat breakfast tomorrow morning...refused all but a couple of bites of his chicken tonight (with the probiotic in it). I went to the grocery and got some vanilla yogurt tonight, and he did eat a good spoonful of that, so maybe we have a start at the probiotic. I am thinking we may have to still take the nausea meds, though. Mom and I both have a theory that he is mad about us making him take his antibiotic, though. Well had to push that pill down, since he wont chew up the chewable chicken-flavored pill. Since the pneumonia, making him take a pill makes him mad, so that isnt helping. At least Dr. P doesnt seem to think this is at a life-threatening stage, but he did a really good exam today, so that makes us feel a little better. However, poor Cass DOES still feel bad, and eating may just cause his little tummy to hurt. Hopefully the probiotic will help. To quote Cher....And the beat goes on....and the beat goes on. Sure wish we could make him feel better. :-(
