From, EVERYTHING ELSE “Son, I’m going to tell you something that maybe no one has ever told you before but that you should definitely hear at this very moment. Just so you’ll understand what is coming. Most men alive, and by that I mean about 90% of all men, are only as dangerous as they feel they need to be, or as the situation warrants. When they make threats to you or against you, when they move against you, they do so out of fear. And fear only. Because they feel they have been backed into a corner that they can’t see a way out of. They have been made dangerous by circumstance, and if you give them any excuse to stop being dangerous, any avenue of escape at all, they’ll gladly take it. Oh, most men can be dangerous enough if absolutely necessary, but only if absolutely necessary. Because of that fact alone all men deserve your mortal respect. After all they might accidentally make themselves dangerous out of fear and desperation, or out of plain old misunderstanding, and even an accidentally dangerous man is still a dangerous man. So towards all men be wary, you owe it to yourself to think all men dangerous, even if they are only dangerous out of their own cowardice or miscalculation. But most of the time, the vast majority of the time, the vast majority of men are only dangerous towards those things that could do them no harm anyways. Those things that would never be a real threat to them, like rabbits, and squirrels, and deer, women, children, weaker men, and some such. Most men have no interest at all in standing long or alone against those just as dangerous as they are, much less those who are more dangerous than they are. So if you give them a way to avoid such danger, any way to avoid it, most will. There happens though to be a small percentage of men who are truly dangerous. Really, truly dangerous. Dangerous most all of the time. And not out of necessity. But out of desire, and pleasure, and because that is their nature. They don’t think about how they can escape danger, and they don’t sit around in a tree stand waiting on it to helplessly stumble across their line of sight. No, they run at it, screaming, grunting, hands and face smeared in blood. They want it to see them coming. That kinda thing makes them feel alive. Those men are dangerous because they fearless, and because some of them are likely evil, and some are even both. It doesn’t really matter the real cause, because at the right moment the truth is that those men truly are dangerous. When those men speak, when they threaten you, when they move in a certain way or give you a particular look then pay attention. Close, hard attention. They do not threaten you, if they ever even bother to threaten you, out of fear or miscalculation, they do so because they are not afraid at all and do not care whether you are afraid of them, or not. They are simply too unafraid to care, or perhaps too evil to be afraid of caring. Either way it doesn’t matter. Because those men do not bother to calculate their own odds of escape, their math is all of the terror in the other guy and the joy in themselves. Of those men do not be wary like you would be with the majority of other men, for that goes without saying to anyone with eyes to see or ears to ear. No, with those men be only bold, decisive, and quick. Or you will be cold, dead, and long forgotten by their experienced hands. Now if you understand what I’ve just told you then you will understand what I just told you. If you don’t then it was nice knowing you kid… but either way do not look to me to come to your aid. I have dangerous business of my own to tend to tonight. And it won’t involve any more free advice, or any more distractions on your account. I just gave you what you’re getting from me. Everything else you earn for yourself.”
