From Essential Energy: The storms have caused six power poles to fall / snap on the main powerline which supplies power to the Attunga, Barraba, Manilla and Upper Manilla areas. There is also significant damage to Essential Energy distribution network (network from Essential Energys Zone Substations to customers), which again includes power poles which have fallen / snapped. Due to the boggy conditions, two excavators have been contracted and are on site preparing the area for the installation of the new power poles on the main powerline. A crane service has also been placed on call should it be needed overnight to assist lift powerlines back in place. Our crews have advised it is like a cyclone has gone through the area and the damage to the power network and private property is significant. Essential Energy has been able to restore power to a small number of customers in the Attunga area. The remaining customers affected will not have power restored today, but Essential Energy crews are working as quickly as safety allows to ensure their power is restored ASAP.
