From Fairfield PD: On September 29, 2014 at about 1:10 pm, Vanden High School staff received an anonymous call regarding an explosive device left the in the high school cafeteria. School staff immediately notified the Fairfield Police Department and initiated their response plan. The school began evacuation procedures and is working in conjunction with the Fairfield Police Department and Travis Air Force Base to conduct a thorough search of the school. At this point in the search no device has been located. Student Drivers will be escorted to their vehicles by staff and sent home. Bus students will be escorted to Golden West Middle School where they will be sent by bus home. Parents wishing to pick up their children can respond to Golden West Middle School. Access for parents at this time is via Dobe Lane and DeRonde Drive. Drivers are advised traffic is heavy in the area, so please take alternate routes if at all possible.
