From Fan: I was doing some random thinking. Hair is not just hair. I completely understand why a lot of people say this. Hair comes off as an element of vanity (to some). It is something that some use as a way to express their free spirit and have fun with. Because of this, I understand the words its just hair. At the same time though, that phrase is a bit offensive. Have we ever considered the little girl who has cancer and is losing her hair? How about the woman with eczema or psoriasis who keeps losing their hair? If it is only hair, why do we go through such great lengths, to achieve a certain length, maintain its health, and or cover it up? While you may say its just hair, there are a lot of religions and cultures of people who take it seriously. For those of you who live by the bible and or believe in it 1 Corinthians 11:6 says For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. This is the reason why Jewish women cover their heads. Indians tend to keep their hair long because they are spiritually connected to it. They feel as if it gives them a sixth sense. This sixth sense would allow them to sense their enemy and have a greater intuition. Among Sadhus and Sadhvis they loc their hair and let it grow as a symbol of religious practices and their hair is extremely sacred to them. Imagine how many of us would have no choice but to wear hats all year round had it not been the hairs protecting our heads. How many of us would lose confidence if we began to loose our hair? At the end of the day your hair is your identity and is important. It is your DNA, your personality, it has meaning, it has history, it tells you how youre doing health wise, it tells you where you come from, and so much more. That doesnt mean that you HAVE to take it as serious as the next person. Just be mindful when you say its just hair. Happy Hair Journey Ladies 😊
