From February: In a highly unusual move, the California State Democratic Party failed to endorse incumbent Assembly member Marc Levine (Sonoma-Marin, District 10) at its pre-primary endorsing caucus meeting held Saturday. This means there will be no official Democratic Party endorsement going into the June primary. Levine’s weak showing of only 47% in a District he carried just two years ago shows a lack of support among local Democratic activists that has not been seen in at least twenty years in a Marin-Sonoma Assembly race. College of Marin Trustee Diana Conti, finished a strong second with nearly 30% of votes cast by Delegates chosen from Marin and Sonoma Central Committees, chartered Democratic clubs and elected from the District at large. The remaining votes were split between Sonoma candidate Erin Carlstrom and “No Endorsement.”
