From Gabes Hollywood kitchen....a nostalgic flavor is brewing in the air! Any curious foodie Is welcomed to venture in his bakery domain . Why nothing fancy , nor far out priced appliances youll find here, only tools,basic cookware, simple ingredients & with love & enjoyment are what piece together what is becoming an LA overnight sensation ! Gabes old fashioned fruit pies . If your pallet requires the taste of bland foods or unorthodox raw organics ... Dont like my page, and take a hike onto the next set of ( ridiculous groupies ) with their raw tree groping tasteless annoying foods! But ... If your nostalgic and require some sense of yesteryear where Americans gathered at popular eateries around the country enjoying the simple white flour/ sugar deserts ( that didnt kill anyone btw), and a warm slice of homemade fruit pie / ala mode, & enjoying the sounds of big band Tommy Dorsey along with Helen forest softly playing through the jukebox . If youve had it with ridiculous modified substituted ingredients , that will kill many in future... then my friend youve visited the right page. For here is where I, a few simple ingredients , & (couple secret spices even Marie Calendar herself dies a million times to jump out of her grave to steal ), create for you.. an American establishment , legendary in the desert world, You who appreciate desert the way grandma made them.. You need to look no further ! My recipe follows a woman I was very privileged to know as a neighbor / friend / pie baker guru .. Mrs. Janice Williams from N. Carolina born ;1922, settling in Los Angeles in the 50s . I as a youngster was drawn almost deathly attracted to the aroma coming from her wonderful kitchen, what was it ? PIE!!!!! Oh my ,how I never tasted anything more delicious swimming in warm beautiful spices, a crust so buttery .& flaky one could have sworn they had reached heavenly bliss. It wasnt till much later in my years did she share with me her recipe given from her own grandmother ( imagine that)? Anyhow I was made to promise NEVER to give it away , on that one condition was I then allowed to enter Pie sorority scouts honor! So if a bit of Americana nostalgia is what your craving .... along with a delicious homemade fresh fruit/ fresh ingredients ( only will I use frozen fruit packaged if it is out of season) , the most buttery flaky, melt in your mouth pie , accompanied by a couple spoonfuls of vanilla bean ice cream....then sit back , turn on the jukebox , listen to the beautiful crooning sounds of Miss Helen Forest & let a delicious warm slice of my fruit pie ... take you back to the Americana thst was innocent, pure ....and non organic tasteless ...and a whopping 12.99
