GoodLuck DirkFantastic Hartlepool Council has NOW ADMITTED, after one year of vehemently denying it, that RESTRICTIONS ON PARK LODGE mean that the land and the building CAN NEVER BE SOLD There were 450+ objections against the planning committee change of use of Park Lodge in Ward jackson Memorial Park. Objectors including the History of Hartlepool in Images, Park Residents Association and individuals who were allowed ONE 4 minute spot to state their objection. Using new rules in the Localism Act the key points of the meeting were filmed. The APPROVE recommendation was DEFERRED for a second month, this time for a site visit because of traffic concerns about a new access point west of the main gates on Elwick Road. The plan after change of use is to sell the property and additional land taken from the park maintenance team, this is now untenable, but change of use is possible. Given that the residential possibilities of the Lodge are obviously severely curtailed by the restrictions banning its sale, or indeed the sale of any of the Park and given that putting two separate access points to the property on Elwick Road, is clearly insane as evidenced by a previous planning application for this area having been turned down for road safety issues, perhaps the council might now be wise to follow its own advice as set out in Hartlepool Borough Councils Park Conservation Area Character Appraisal dated September 2008, which states as follows: Community Involvement..... PPG15 stresses that the historic environment cannot be protected unless there is broad public understanding and support... other opportunities for proactive engagement with groups and individuals specific to this conservation area who have knowledge, enthusiasm and resources to offer, SHOULD BE PURSUED....
