From January 2013: "I enjoyed a wonderful walk tonight. The Valley Trail stream was running quietly, partially frozen under a star-struck sky. It was a perfect time for “on-the-go introspection,” to borrow a term from writer Chad Foreman. (thewayofmeditation.au/) The navigator in me quietly found my place in this way, holding to my compact physical place, but expanding the scope of my thoughts. I stood erect on a flat stone at the edge of the creek with my eyes focused on bright Jupiter. I was quiet and let fly all distractions. I felt the weight of my feet on the stone; I listened intently to the constant cascades of water down the steps of the stream, noticing the many distinct sounds from right to left; my focus followed the bare trees to their synaptic, feathery tips that combed the gentle, spiritual breeze; I leaped out to Jupiter and was aware of its current phase, its mass and rapid, but seemingly still motion above; I placed myself on this great, good Earth as the Earth-Moon orbital dance joined the planetary arcs around our Sun; I found our spark of human time in the long-cycle on the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way; our accelerating galactic expansion and a future date with Andromeda; then, out along the local group to the blur of the then-but-now observable edge of “it all” where the unseen travels with light speed into the brilliant, Deep Darkness; pondering the unmoving, constant hub at our center; and the Spherical Beyond. Breathing in here the atoms of former stars — breathing out there, looking back from that lofty perch through my third eye. All without words, just being with, and in, and among." ~ Rudy
