From Jeff Novick, MS, RDN, LDN. Incomplete Nutrients: Should Animal Foods Be Considered Incomplete? https://drmcdougall/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=44791 For decades we have heard the myth that plant foods, specifically, plant proteins were incomplete. While I have written on this fallacy many times over the years, it seems this myth has raised its ugly head again. The soybean industry recently released a promotional ad which they sent out to me and my fellow RDs which claims that the soybean is The Only Complete, Plant-Based Protein. In response to this ad, my fellow RDs vigorously debated the essential amino acid issue again. You can read my response to the discussion here, which also includes a discussion on the importance of dietary fiber.
