From Kevin Wong: No dream is too big, no dreamer is too small. Hi everyone, my name is Kaiwen Wang . And i would like to explain to you why i should be elected to be the president of ASO. I have a vision for the organization that, with my extensive experience both as a leader and joint participant, can easily integrate foreign exchange students in the American way of life and further promote and educate the general population of Chinese culture. I have surrounded myself with leaders and have participated in well-known organizations for the vast majority of my life. Witnessing the respect and power commanded by these leaders combined with my desire to do positive things for the Chinese culture inspired me to pursue a leadership role of my own. Throughout my high school career I participated in various activities as a leader and a significant participant in organizations that promoted Chinese culture across the United States. As early as my freshman year of high school I was developing and fine tuning my qualities and characteristics that make me a leader. I was voted to be the treasurer of my band my first year of high school. As a treasurer, I gained a vast amount of knowledge in managing, banking, and organizing which I have used to this day to manage my finances. As a junior in high school I was nominated as the captain of the JV volleyball team. Throughout high school I proved to various people that I have what it takes to be a leader in society. I value my culture and, through organizational conferences and events, do what I can to promote and educate other cultures of what the Chinese culture is like. I took part in the Cleveland Chinese music ensemble and the Columbus music festival, playing in 10 different shows demonstrating Chinese arts. I also took part in a joint presentation of Chinese Culture at the University of Akron that lasted for three days; educating an audience of over 300 people from across the State of Ohio on Chinese culture. My participation as a Government foreign exchange student in the American Field Service (AFS) allowed me to gain a new perspective and deeper insight on the American way of life which makes it easier for me to teach new foreign exchange students on how to adapt to the way Americans live. These various experiences combined with many other small scale events are why I believe I deserve the spot as the President of ASO. I believe that I can make my vision to further educate people of the Chinese culture and to make the change from Chinese to American life an easy one a reality and I will stop at nothing to seek out the best for this organization.
