From Kip Robisch (below): Two idiot Democrats, Kwame Raoul and Elaine Nekritz, wrote it, and its not a bill, its an amendment. Apparently they wanted to fix the standing eavesdropping law by distinguishing between private and public conversations, the public one being one with an officer or public official, but wrote the amendment in such a way that no one could be sure whether or not youd be rightfully recording a police action or be committing a Class 3 felony that could land you in prison for 4 years. Given the way weve seen prosecutors performing fellatio on brutal cops instead of indicting them, it seems to me that the ACLU-backed amendment is another good intention that will lead to a stronger police state. Instead of having some guts about protecting the citizenry, politicians are still running the anti-terrorism playbook to surveil and control, and using the police as muscle. This, of course, is precisely the defining success of terrorism, so it should be called a pro-terrorist action. What these f**ing morons dont get is that theyre making 9/11 the most successful act of guerilla warfare in history, rather than spitting in the face of it by maintaining a free state. And, because most politicians are opportunists, theyre using us and the theft of our rights to feather their own nests. Illinois will be seeing smoke and mirrors on this for some time, Im sure. Im predicting some innocent people in jail. What Id rather be able to predict is 100,000 people at the state house with cameras aimed right at it until this goes away. Sadly, we do not live in that nation. Heres the Snopes article that spells out the amendment: snopes/politics/crime/eavesdroppinglaw.asp
