From LP Mayor Blair Milo---- Time to Flush the Hydrants! Todd Taylor, Director of the City of La Porte Water Department announces that the fall water system flushing will begin late Tuesday night October 15, 2013 and will continue for the following 2 weeks Sunday night through Thursday night. Flushing will be done nightly beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Flushing is being done at night to minimize inconvenience to customers. Discolored or rusty water may occur in some areas during flushing. The water is safe to drink, but if you are doing laundry and the water enters your washer, do not dry the clothes. Washing the items again after the water clears, normally takes care of the problem. Be sure to check the water before doing laundry to avoid staining clothes. Why do we do this? Flushing on a routine basis maintains the high quality of water in the distribution system and makes sure that all fire hydrants are in working order.
