From Law Enforcement Today - a Must Read........... ~M BETRAYAL Those of us who have been involved in law enforcement for any amount of time have heard a story of a fellow officer who “betrayed his badge.” It is the most egregious way to describe a police officer. After Saturday’s assassination of two members of the NYPD, I am confident in saying that we in the law enforcement have been betrayed by the politicians. These are the same politicians who have promoted rhetoric insisting that we are a problem in America. I think the broad brush that Obama, Holder and De Blasio have painted law enforcement with is the direct cause of the anti-police sentiment we are seeing today. If people are upset over the Michael Brown shooting, the death of Eric Garner or any other incident, they have a right to peaceful protest. They can chant for justice and chant for equal rights. I have no issue with it. This is America. However, the protests in Missouri and New York have gone well beyond “peaceful.” Ferguson, Missouri will be recovering for months, if not years, from the property damage inflicted by local residents following a grand jury decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death Michael Brown. Recently in New York, during the protests against the grand jury decision in the death of Eric Garner, several members of the NYPD have been attacked by protestors. On December 13th, two NYPD lieutenants were jumped and assaulted by a group of protestors when they attempted to stop an individual from throwing a garbage can from the upper roadway of the Brooklyn Bridge. Both lieutenants suffered injuries, including a broken nose. The protestors have also been heard chanting, “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want them? Now!” Now it has happened. After making several cryptic posts on social media, a lone gunman drove from Baltimore to Brooklyn and assassinated Police Officer Rafael Ramos and Police Officer Wenjin Liu as they sat in their cruiser. These officers were ambushed by a radical who decided to exact justice for Michael Brown and Eric Garner. I have seen Lebron James wear a shirt that reads, “I Can’t Breathe,” in reference to some of Eric Garner’s last words. Which athlete will step up and wear shirts that say, BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG? Because that was the last thing Officer Liu and Officer Ramos heard. Ill be waiting for the outrage and protests over these assassinations. As a matter of fact, I will probably be waiting a long time. The foundation of Mayor Bill De Blasio’s campaign was a “Tale of Two Cities” theme. It perpetuated a class war in the city. The voters bought in to the rhetoric and he won the election. The problem with De Blasio’s premise is that it is simply not true. Read More: lawenforcementtoday/2014/12/24/betrayal/
