From Lees WRAP For Reducing Clutter Some of us own too many possessions for the size of our personal spaces. Our stuff covers shelves, fill drawers, narrow hallways, clutters bedrooms, cram cars, occupies offices, floods basements, takes over garages, litters attics, smothers the kitchen table, hides the dining room chairs, fills bathtubs, and bends closet doors. Sometimes the weight of the collections make floors sag. Sometimes it even makes hearts sag. The stuff creates hazards: social, physical, professional, and financial. The stuff, no matter what it is, has become a problem: lead or gold, too much is too much. Weve been called pack rats, collectors, and hoarders. In this workbook we will refer ourselves as Finders and Keepers. finders are excellent treasure hunters, finding those things which make them feel good. Some people are Keepers, saving what they have for a multitude of reasons. Some of us are both Finder and Keeper - always accumulating. The reasons that we seek-out and hold-on to material objects may have to do with a sentimental streak, artistic visions, frugality, or the desire to have just the right gift or outfit at any time. Our intentions are usually positive, the outcomes...not so much. WRAP for Reducing Clutter is written by an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator who knows what this process of learning to say no and let go is like. It became clear during my own struggle with clutter that there were specific times when I was more likely to acquire things and have a hard time letting them go. It also became clear that there were periods of time when I wasnt actively adding to my collections because I was doing other things instead, like playing violin or writing. What became abundantly clear to me was a pattern of collecting that very closely resembled the other patterns in my life that I was using by personal WRAP to change. I thought, Why not use WRAP to break my cycle of finding/keeping too? The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it, which led to the development of WRAP for Reducing Clutter, to help myself and my peers. I got permission from Lee Shuer to share, but I would imagine not the whole thing lol. If you want more information contact Lee at lee@mutual-support
