From Log Cabin Republicans of Austin Chapter President, Jeff Davis: This (Austin Chronicles) kind of sensationalistic journalism is pathetic. The fact of the matter is that Texas is a Red state. Sarah Davis (Sarah Davis for State Representative 134) is a Republican who is on our side on many issues and more than willing to engage in a conversation about #LGBT rights. Regarding her relationship with Log Cabin Republicans, she didnt just speak at a conference. Shes also a member of LCR Houston as a straight ally. Are other Equality Texas endorsed candidates members of gay advocacy groups? Im guessing some are and some arent, but the ones that arent have yet to be called good enough. Also, lets remember that not all Democrats are LGBT friendly. Sarah is a step ahead of even some of her Democratic counterparts. Could Sarah (and other Representatives on both sides of the aisle) have better voting records regarding LGBT rights? Yes. Will they in the future? Probably. Will they if we spit in their face when they show us some level of support? Probably not. Now lets say thank you. That should be good enough.
