From Lt. Hanold: This week, a Hanover Park Police Investigator developed information about the location of stolen property at an area pawn shop. Further investigation linked the stolen items to both vehicle and residential burglaries that took place in ART area 1 of Hanover Park. With this information as well as information provided by a citizen to a patrol officer regarding people involved in suspicious activity in the area, a group of suspects were identified. The Investigator located the suspects and through extensive interviews, the Investigator obtained admissions from the offenders about their involvement in burglarizing vehicles in the Olde Salem/Schaumburg area as well as a home. As a result, two juvenile offenders were charged with these crimes. A 16 year old male was charged with Burglary, Residential Burglary, and Criminal Damage to Property. A 14 year old male was charged with Possession of Stolen Property. We are reminding citizens to lock homes and vehicles when they are unattended, stow items of value out of sight and the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the police department.
