From Mary Mycio: This is making a lot of sense: According to Ukraines security service yesterday, Putin planned to shoot down a Russian passenger jet from Pervomaisk, near Donetsk. It was on a flight path similar to MH17. But there are FIVE towns with versions of that name in the Donetsk region and the Buk drivers -- obviously not locals -- went to the wrong one and shot down the Malaysian plane instead. The plan was to make the plane crash on Ukrainian held territory, providing Russia with a pretext to invade and take control of the crash site before the world even noticed what had happened. That makes so much sense to me too. I was surprised myself that theres a town called Donetsk just inside the Russian border in Rostov Oblast. And obviously there are many many Pervomaisk (First of May) etc etc... what a bunch of losers!
