From Michael Garfield: ...the paradoxical conjunction of unity - TopicsExpress

From Michael Garfield: ...the paradoxical conjunction of unity and multiplicity... the fact that it is all one, and, at the same time, many things. That is, I think, in a way, the central play of—and the core commonality of—art, and science, and spirituality... and thats how you know all of these things are addressing the same root issue. The same question is being asked through all of these different disciplines and methods. Beautifully made, and so well said. Love that he shared my favourite Sagan quote: We are a way for the cosmos to know itself. I basically organize my entire spiritual understanding around this truth. There is spirituality and connectedness to be found in science, and in art. In technology, also. Its incredible how well we are able to know and shape ourselves now, and that we can connect with other people in a way that is unprecedented. Its unique to the 21st century. Our awareness of the whole is becoming inevitable, and now, more of us are choosing to access a multitude of ways of perceiving that awareness. So now, I think the question remains—are we contributing to that whole with our work, our endeavors, our love for our own craft and vision? I dont think that contribution is supposed to look a certain way, but just to be given. To give of whatever art is within us is a gift to ourselves, and to others. Cody Gatlin, Emily Michele, Orlando Sanchez, Ron Tucker, Hilary Kuhlmey, Andrew Collins Graham—you may especially appreciate this. #science #art #religion #spirituality
