From NWS: Heres an update on the flash flood situation this morning. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH remains in effect until 9 am this morning. This includes all the Louisiana parishes east of the Atchafalaya River as well as all of the southwest and coastal counties in Mississippi. Very heavy rains have fallen overnight with many areas receiving 3 to 5 inches and in some locations between 5 and 9 inches. As a result of the heavy rainfall, a number of rivers are either in flood or are forecast to go into flood. Please see the latest river flood warnings and statements for specific information on river flooding. Lingering light to occasionally moderate rain over the area is expected to diminish through the early morning hours. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is possible this morning. Any additional rainfall on the nearly saturated ground could result in additional flooding.
