From: Pam Johnson Marketing and Communications Officer City of Venice SUBJECT: Venice Fire Department helps rescue four people on sinking boat The Venice Fire Department’s rescue boat was launched April 17 around 9 p.m. to assist the United States Coast Guard in the search for a vessel in distress about 1 mile off the coast. A distress signal was sent from a 26-foot boat when it had motor failure and began taking on water. Venice firemedics helped remove four people from the boat shortly before it sank. There were no injuries.
