From Paul - Its hard to know how any of us will react to tragedy. Nanette & I have heard from so many of you who told us that the way we had handled Katies accident & subsequent send-off was inspiring. Let me assure you that God answered each & every prayer lifted up on our behalf by carrying us when we couldnt move. I have participated in several triathlons ... you know; swim-bike-run. Theres a man named Dick Hoyt who does these long distance races known as Ironman 140.6. This race consists of swimming 2.4 miles, followed by cycling 112 miles & concluding with running 26.2 miles. This combination is grueling, difficult & will test the stamina of even the finest of athletes. Dick completes the Ironman with an added element of difficulty, he runs the race while carrying one that he loves, Dick has a disabled son named Rick. Father swims with son in tow in a raft. Father lifts his son & carries him out of the water to a special bicycle with a seat designed to carry him. The father places his son in a special wheeled stroller & pushes him across the marathon distance & across the finish-line to the roaring throngs cheering them on. The son, who otherwise couldnt possibly have done these things on his own - is able to finish this amazing journey. This is my story, and this is Nanettes story, and truthfully - this is Kates story too. Where does our strength come from? It wasnt because we can swim or run ... were like Rick Hoyt, when we desired to persevere, we couldnt even lift ourselves to our feet to stand, but our loving Father carried us tenderly across every mile to the finish.
