From Paul Gallay of Hudson Riverkeeper: Finally, the New York - TopicsExpress

From Paul Gallay of Hudson Riverkeeper: Finally, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation is insisting that Global Partners LP answer detailed questions about the types of oil it plans to ship, its liability insurance and its ability to respond to accidents and fires. The company is proposing to expand operations with a heating facility that could move heavy tar sands oil through the Port of Albany. For the first time, DEC is sending a clear signal that tar sands crude shipments are not a foregone conclusion in New York. We’re glad the state took the time to listen to the public, Riverkeeper and our fellow environmental groups and acknowledge the concerns we’ve been raising over the past three months regarding the threat of crude oil transport to New York’s communities and irreplaceable waterways.
