From Peggy Robertson: Today for my professional development day - TopicsExpress

From Peggy Robertson: Today for my professional development day I spent the entire day entering data. I began my day entering data to complete a 30 page self assessment to be used for my teacher evaluation process. I ended my day entering data into GOLD to assess kindergarten students. It is days like this that make my anger boil over. Parents, please refuse these tests for your children. Teachers do not want to be data managers. Today I worked for the corporations. Our tax dollars paid for this. I learned nothing to support my learners when I return to school on Tuesday. The corporate reformers do not want me to learn anything. They simply need me to enter data to profit them and allow them to easily control and manage teachers and learners. Their end goal is to make me vanish and use our children and our public schools to cash in until our democracy is beyond repair. There will be no hope of saving this democracy without educated students and public schools. And data managers/teacher as technician will not be able to support learners to become future citizens. Please look at the big picture. Refuse the test - without the test - they are nothing.
