Chess Kenya wishes to announce that on the weekend of 8th-9th November 2014, there shall be a zonal qualifier to select one Kenyan male and one Kenyan female representative to represent Kenya (air tickets and full-board accommodation already secured) in the upcoming Zone 4.2 Zonal Championships to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from 21st - 30th November 2014. Tournament details: - Mode is 6 rounds swiss event, event to be FIDE-RATED - Ladies play separately - Arbiter for event will be Githui George - Entry fee 500/- for any Kenyan with a FIDE rating, 750/- for any Kenyan without a FIDE rating - Entries to be paid to Chess Kenya paybill number 817300. Send the confirmation to Arbiter Githui George (0728659252) - Venue within Nairobi to be confirmed within the week The winner of the mens section and ladies section will represent Kenya in the Zonal event. In the event of a tie for 1st place, tie-break (Buccholz, et al) will be used to select the person to represent the country. IMPORTANT: all participants are expected to have valid passports. The winning participants (both man + lady) will be expected to lodge and pay for a visa application at the Egyptian Embassy on the morning of Monday 10th November (cost of visa 4,300/-).
