From RC Journal: Fall enrollment for the Meade School District is up by 97 students for a total enrollment of 2,659. The largest increase in enrollment is at Piedmont Valley Elementary where there are 72 more students than last year. Sturgis Brown High School has 29 more students. Sturgis Elementary has 21 additional students. Whitewood Elementary has 14 fewer students. Sturgis Williams Middle School decreased by nine students and the rural schools have two fewer students. Superintendent Don Kirkegaard said this is the third year of enrollment increases, the last two of which were significant. “For budget purposes, we figured an increase of 50 students,” he said, “so once again this is great news.”
