From Ray Jordan: The Turner County Board of Education, meeting in called session this evening, accepted my recommendation to delay the opening of school for the 2013-14 school year by 1 day for students. The first day of school for students in Turner County will be Tuesday, August 27th, instead of Monday, August 26th. Faculty and staff should plan to report as originally scheduled on Wednesday, August 21st for Pre-planning, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Turner County Civic Center. While we will not be completely finished with the renovations at Turner County Middle/High School, all instructional and administrative spaces will be available for use. We are delaying the return of students by one day to provide 4 days of pre-planning to allow our middle/high school teachers an additional day to move back into and set up their newly renovated classrooms in preparation for the arrival of students on Tuesday, August 27th.
