From Royal Gorge Fire Officials: Crews continue to secure the fire line and mop-up to the extent possible. Despite the improved conditions and limited fire activity on Thursday, fire officials remind the public that the fire is still active. Incident Commander, Dan Dallas, said, it is important for the public to know that there are pockets of unburned fuel inside the fire perimeter, and that smoke may be visible - sometimes significant - but those areas are well within the fire perimeter and pose no threat to the containment lines. Fire crews will patrol and monitor these areas as they work to secure the fire perimeter. The fire is currently estimated at 40 percent containment.
