From Sr. Trooper Doug Cutts to Perry and area residents: On Monday July 22 traffic in and around Perry will be very congested. Drivers need to be aware that extra time will be neeed to get around. With the bicycles coming in from the south on J Ave (county road P58) and crossing Hwy 141 expect delays. If drivers can avoid the bicycle route they will be able to get to work and home quicker. Anywhere along the route drivers can expect very heavy bicycle traffic. If people want to go and watch the bicycles it is recommended not to park near intersection. Officers will ask them to more their vehicle. The roads are still open and we need to be able to get trucks, cars and bicycle though safely. On Tuesday July 23 once again traffic will be bicycle traffic will be heavy exiting town. The bicycle will leave town the same way they came in: J Ave. the bicycles will cross Hwy 169 at Minburn on their way to Dallas Center. Those drivers headed to work along Hwy 169 might want to find a different route. Traffic will have delays at that location. As the bicycles approach Hwy 6 drivers along Hwy 6 should expect delays as the bicycles cross over on their way to Van Meter. Anywhere along the route drivers should expect heavy bicycle traffic and delays. As the bicycles get closer to Des Moines traffic impact will increase though out the afternoon. If possible drivers should take a different route to and from work if possible. Iowa State Patrol Safety Education Unit Sr. Trooper Doug Cutts
