From Stacey: I would like to share a story about a customer of Kevins who happened to be at the rehab center yesterday. We were all sitting in the party room where we could be loud....and Kevin was definately that....and where we could talk freely as Kevin shares a room with someone....and this lady comes up to Kevin and says.. I dont mean to be rude but do you work at the paint shop in the strip? Kevin nodded yeeesss, and the lady says... you made a shirt for my boy and he loves it...you are so talented! Kevins shop is 90ish miles from Columbia. It was very cool for him to be recognized at the center. LISTEN UP FRIENDS.... A STRANGER REMINDED KEVIN OF HIS PART IN THIS WORLD WHERE HE MADE A DIFFERENCE. BESIDES BEING A FRIEND, HIS PASSION IS ART. AT THIS TIME HE CANNOT DRAW WITH HIS RIGHT HAND. AT THIS TIME I AM TELLING YOU TO THINK OF WHAT KEVIN HAS DONE FOR YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. AS YOU SIT THERE SMILING REMEMBERING HIS LAUGHTER, SMART ASS SARCASM, SKATING, ARTWORK, ETC, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THIS MAN. IN RETURN YOU WILL HELP HIM GET HIS FUNCTION BACK, HIS BATTERY CHARGED, YOU WILL HELP HIM GET BACK TO THE FAMILY THAT LOVES AND NEEDS HIM! DO IT NOW...DO SOMETHING. ITS TIME FOR YOU... YOU... YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! MAY WE GET THIS MAN BACK TO WHERE HE NEEDS TO BE.... From Chad: Update from the Sunday visit. It was a two part visit, so in the am we got to sit with Kevin and the rest of the family in the cafeteria this time as there were too many of us for his room and the day room on his floor was being used for another activity. We went down one floor and set up camp to spend time with Kevin. We brought treats to include some trail mix, beef jearky and more cheese turds. Kev was also trying to make an attempt to answer or message a friend on facebook, so look out people for some stuff from Kev in the future. From there It seemed like just a short time and he was called back up for some tests and I believe lunch and then returned for a short time but Kev was getting tired and we all took a break for our lunches. We returned between 4 and 5pm and Kev was still in bed so we went to wait in the day room on his floor. He must have seen us in his room and hit the button for the aids to help him get into his wheel chair as with in a few minutes he was rolling in to visit. He was either still groggy from sleep or on his meds so it took alittle to get Kev talking. He was really into the football game that was on tv and couldnt take his eyes off of it, even cheering and booing the plays. It was exciting to hear him expressing is feelings for the action on the screen. Soon, Jenny, Besty, Simon and the girls were all there and we had another great visit. We soon were joined by Kevins aunt and uncle which was also awesome. Kev seems to really enjoy being surrounded by his support group and being able to interact. Totally different from the previous day when there was alot of sharing of skating, art, graffiti and pictures from phones and tablet so sunday was more of one on one verbal interaction. He gets discouraged not being able to get full words out but it still is enjoyable to see him trying so hard. He is also very proud of his leg movement and even showed off alittle right shoulder shrug that was kind of a surprise to some of us but also dam impressive. He wants so bad to have that right arm back in action. I keep tellin him to be patient but yku can probably guess how far that goes with him. He gives you the, yeah I know look and its sad to see and hear. I had taken some video which i will need to get to Betsy to pkst and i know Simon also got some of the visit so i hope he posts some of it too. We all called it a night and let Kevin get some rest but will be going back to see him befor we hit the road for home this morning. Wishing him all the love in the world to a speedy recovery and wish I lived a lot closer so I could visit so much more often. He really enjoys visitors. Please reach out to Kevin as much as possible to let him know you are behind him. His support team down here need it too. You guys do a great job so dont get discouraged and keep up the good fight! So greatful to have met you all and cant wait to make the next trip. More later...
