From Stephen Birch Private Collection SLADE ROAD AT STOCKLAND GREEN The first image shows an original open balcony tram being used at Stockland Green dated 28th September 1938. The back of the picture gives the date and the title The old Terminus, now extended to Short Heath. The open balcony trams were the first to be used on this route when the terminus was at this point. And used in service for anniversary in 1938 using the number 1. The usual number for the Short Heath to Steelhouse Lane route was 78. The second image shows the same stop, this time a bus stop for the 65 Short Heath to City service. The shops in the background still remain although the shop names are different to 1938. The Third image Shows Slade Road at Stockland Green in 1928. The row of Shops on the right with the nearest still as houses as the row was first built in 1914. Tram on the 78 route heading towards Streetly Road across the junction with Marsh Hill & Reservoir Road in the distance.
