She began this career as a high school counselor and in the late 1960’s she pioneered computer-based career planning. She first developed the Computerized Vocational Information System (CVIS), then developed DISCOVER. When ACT took over responsibility for DISCOVER development, she became the Executive Director of ACT’s Educational Technology Center in Maryland. JoAnn wrote three different versions of the Career Development Facilitator curriculum for schools and workforce centers in the United States, for Japan, and for the U.S. Prison System. She is currently Executive Director for Content Development at Kuder, Inc. and co-author with Dr. Spencer Niles and Dr. Norman Amundson of two best-selling textbooks on career development theory and practice in the United States.
