From Terri Milton McRoy August 25, 2014 GOLDEN NUGGET: Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. James 1:4 ***The Wilderness Series***Christian means; follower of Christ or Christlike. If this is the case then we need to be surrendered to Christ to the point that we can say, “IF its your will CAN I go here or there, do this or that?” Then seek His will on the matter. The opposite to this would be, “I AM going here or there, do this or that.” To be a true follower of Christ, we need to obey and surrender to him. The opposite of a surrendered person is a SELF willed person. An example of a self-willed person in the Bible is Jonah. God told Jonah to go to Ninevah to preach the gospel. Job said I dont want to and he tried to hide in the bottom of a ship. Needless to say that judgment came to Jonah for his disobedience. After much tribulation he buckled under and went but he was angry about it. He still had not surrendered his will to the father. Jonah was an angry man. Are we going to be like Jonah and say, “ I want” or “I dont want to go, I will run.”or “Okay God, Im gonna go but I dont like it!” Or “okay Lord, help me to do your will and not mine?” Gods way is ALWAYS the best way!
