From Time to Time The Master Turners of our Magical Past lay down challenges which are just too hard to resist, such was the case when we stumbled across the drawings of Professor Henri Garenne...by following the traditional designs and Classic Vase Shapes used later by Thayer and Roterberg (Famous for working in Metal)...The Magician & The Wood Turner come together in perfect harmony for this particular piece of Magic Apparatus. The original drawings detail a specific method which allow this baffling and magical effect to happen, but the Maker (Colin Rose) wanted to add another dimention to this original performance by allowing the inside of the Vase to be viewed by the Spectator upon the the final production, with a little imagineering and some added turning skill, this extra something has been added to enhance the performance and magical entertainment for the audience! This Majestic Piece stands (approx)11 in Height and the Vase measures 4 at its widest point...The Vase has a soft rounded shoulder at the top edge, with a plain wall coming down to two thicker soft shoulders with a decorative pyrography detail separating the shoulders at the base of the vase. The Stem is turned inward with a soft flowing line which comes out to meet the complimentary shoulders & pyrography detail, resting on the base which has been sympathetically proportioned to the Vase itself. On top of the Vase there is a flush fitting lid, gently stepped and rising to the Gabon Ebony Finial which reflects the shape of the stem,and gives continuity to the pyrography detail throughout the piece...turned in the finest African Sapele, this stunning issue has an attractive graining of varying shades of brown & beige lustre set onto the rich honey & cinnamon coloures of the wood itself. * A Popular piece of Magical Entertainment from 150 years ago, faithfully reproduced...and still a completely mystifying piece of magic that can be used and enjoyed today! Not only is this item a real collectable, it is also a terrific piece of magic to perform!
